UK Website Design - How to Help Make Your Site Successful
<< Back
There are many things you can do after your website is live on the Internet. The most important thing you can do is participate in Reciprocal Linking (two way linking with other websites) this will help you with the search engines.
Google, above all, relies heavily on links going from and to your website. When someone links to you, Goolge classes it as a "vote" for your website. Meaning if another website is linking to you, your site must be worth linking to. As a thank you for people linking to you, it is common practice for you link back to them. So their link to you classes a vote for your site, and your link to them classes as a vote for them.
Rules for Reciprocal Linking
There are rules that are well worth following when it comes to reciprocal linking. Firstly, make sure the website you are linking to a relevant to your website (e.g. a computer shop will link to computer suppliers websites, and computer software, pc repairs etc). When the search engines visit your website they follow all of the links on your website, so by having relevant links aids your website's performance even further.
Better than Reciprocal Linking
The best types of links to have are one way links, meaning websites link to you, but you do not have to link back. Confused? This is a very brief description, but should help explain it. The search engines (namely Google) have what they call a "Page Rank" which means they score a page out of 10. Linking to other sites can take this page rank down (but this is counteracted when they link back) so imagine if someone links to you, which counts as a vote and adds to your page rank, you don't have to link back so nothing is detracted from your page rank.
